Q: Do I need a date?
A: A date is not required. You are welcome to attend the Spring Homeschool Formal either solo or with a guest, depending on your preference.
Q: Can I bring a guest who is not homeschooled?
A: Yes, each homeschooled student is welcome to bring one guest who is currently in 9th–12th grade or who graduated from high school within the past year. However, they are still required to purchase a ticket and fill out the registration appropriately.
Q: Can I buy a ticket for someone else?
A: Yes, you can purchase a ticket for someone else as long as they meet the event’s guidelines. The person must either be a homeschooled student or a guest of a homeschool student currently in 9th–12th grade. Please note that each attendee must have a unique email address.
Q: I missed the ticket deadline. Can I pay at the door?
A: Yes, you can pay at the door. However, please keep in mind that the final guest count must be submitted to Kirkwood ahead of time. As a result, the ticket price will be slightly higher for last-minute registrations. We encourage you to register as soon as possible to avoid the price increase.
Q: Will there be chaperones?
A: Yes, there will be chaperones at the event. As this is a drop-off event, parents are kindly asked to allow students to attend independently. A team of pre-arranged chaperones will be present to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees and to help monitor behavior throughout the evening.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Yes, there is a dress code in place for the event. We kindly ask that all attendees refer to the Dress Code page for detailed information to ensure everyone is comfortable and appropriately dressed. Thank you for your understanding!
Q: Will someone be enforcing the dress code?
A: Yes, there will be designated chaperones to help ensure the dress code is followed. Female chaperones will monitor the dress code for ladies, and a male chaperone will be available for gentlemen. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a comfortable and respectful environment for all attendees.
Q: My dress will not pass the dress code. What can I do?
A: If your dress doesn’t fully meet the dress code, there are a few adjustments you can make to help ensure compliance. Adding fabric, sewing a gap closed, or layering with a shrug, shawl, or dressy jacket are all great options. You may also consider wearing leggings or bike shorts under the skirt. Just keep in mind that any additions made should be worn throughout the evening to maintain dress code standards.
Q: Will women be allowed to wear pants and may men wear dresses?
A: Women are welcome to wear dress pants along with a modest top. However, men are not permitted to wear dresses.
Q: Will there be a dinner this year?
A: No, there will not be a full dinner. However, we will have a delicious chocolate fountain with a variety of fruit and other tasty dipping items, as well as drinks and desserts available for all attendees.
Q: Will there be pictures taken?
A: Yes! A professional photographer will be available at the event to capture your special moments. To ensure you don’t miss out, we highly encourage students to pre-book their photo session when registering for tickets. This guarantees your spot and saves you time at the event! Last-minute sessions will also be available at the door for a slightly higher rate.

Q: What type of music will be played?

Q: Can I suggest a song to be played during the dance?
A: Absolutely! We encourage song suggestions, and you can submit them along with your Spring Homeschool Formal application. Please be aware that all songs and lyrics will be reviewed by the DJ and event organizers to ensure they are suitable for the occasion. While we will do our best to accommodate suggestions, not all songs may make it to the final playlist due to time limits or content guidelines. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to hearing your ideas!
Q: Will students be allowed to leave the building and re-enter?

Q: Which door of Kirkwood Hotel should I enter for the dance?
A: For easy access to the dance, please park on the south side of the hotel and enter through the doors on the southwest corner. This entrance is located on the driveway south of 76th Ave. Dr., off Kirkwood Blvd. It’s not the entrance on 76th Ave. Dr. (please see the reference picture below for clarity).
Q: Whom should I contact if I have a question?
