The International Spouse Program has launched Swedish Fika & Language Café – an informal meet-up with Swedish fika and small-group conversation practice designed to help accompanying spouses build confidence speaking everyday Swedish.
Learning a new language takes practice – especially when it comes to speaking. To support accompanying spouses in Sweden, the International Spouse Program recently launched Swedish Fika & Language Café: a relaxed and social space to practice everyday Swedish in a friendly setting.
During the session, participants met in small groups and used simple conversation cards to get started. The focus wasn’t on perfect grammar, but on building confidence, speaking freely, and connecting with others over coffee and classic Swedish fika.
We’re grateful for the great engagement and enthusiasm from everyone who joined. Thank you for making the first Swedish Fika & Language Café such a success – we’re already looking forward to the next session!

Swedish Fika & Language Café recently held its second meet-up, bringing accompanying spouses together for another relaxed afternoon of conversation, connection, and Swedish fika.
After a successful first gathering, the International Spouse Program welcomed participants back to Swedish Fika & Language Café for a second session. The initiative gives accompanying spouses an opportunity to practice everyday Swedish in an informal and supportive environment, where the emphasis is on trying, speaking, and learning together.
This time, participants practiced through guided small-group conversations, sharing experiences and everyday topics in Swedish. Over coffee and classic Swedish fika, the group continued building confidence in spoken Swedish while also getting to know one another in a warm and social setting.

The workshops gathered many participants from a wide range of backgrounds and countries. During the sessions, MultiMind shared practical insights into job searching, recruitment processes, and professional life in Sweden. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions, and reflect on how to strengthen their CVs, LinkedIn profiles, and professional networks.
The strong interest and active participation showed just how valuable these opportunities are for accompanying spouses who are building a new life in Sweden. The Gothenburg workshop ended with an afterwork, giving participants a chance to continue conversations and make new connections in a more informal setting.
