The word of God is powerful.
Are we brought up correctly in this world that we were made perfect. We don’t need to be changed into something for the better. Or is that all wrong and the love of the lord knows exactly what’s good for all of us to change us into to a better version of ourselves with just the right discipline. This weeks sermon is titled the discipline of a loving god and we will be reading through Hebrews book twelve verse one to thirteen. The overall meaning to this sermon is that God will discipline us, but he will do it with love so don’t take it harshly this must happen. As children of God it’s for our own good.
Hebrews 12:1-13; therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose hear 4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13 “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.
The world has been set apart from God not knowing our lord and savior. Most of this world has never experienced a relationship with Jesus Christ. A lot of people of this world have been raised up in a different setting where they didn’t have the privilege to come from a household, school or a church to teach them what the bible is and how to observe the law. We now know our lord Jesus Christ. We know the law as well. We are set apart from this world knowing him. He set an example of the way we must live our lives. He’s also aware of what must be done for us to become like him. The lords discipline is the best thing to bring us into likeness of him. So we can be made holy and righteous. He disciplines everyone he accepts as his son. Your blessed to be disciplined by the lord (Psalms 94:12 Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord, the one you teach from your law). He treating you just as his own child. Jesus is God he came here for us to save us from what we could not do. Lived a sinless life and then died for all of us because we are incapable of sinning. We still are that’s why his discipline is necessary. Instruction from the one who did not sin is the best way to transform us into people that can come closer to his righteousness more and more. God himself is helping change us for the better. If you return to the Lord, then your fellow Israelites and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will return to this land, for the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.”(2 Chronicles 30:9). In this verse easy to see how he cares for us, after we have gone away from the law if we repent as we did when we first were saved he will not reject you. Jesus is kind to take us back and give us another chance to repent, to turn from all wickedness. when we repent we must continue to keep away from sin and everything unrighteous. Discipline is the best way we can help accomplish this, without it, living in this world without the Lord discipline and its ways would not set us up for success in keeping Gods law. Wouldn’t be fruitful. Sin is in everything, everywhere the enemy has completely turned this world into a den of unrighteousness where even people who call themselves Christians are doing the same sins and ungodly actions they did before they believed. Using Jesus sacrifice as an excuse to do what they want. His sacrifice for your sins won’t matter if you deliberately choose to rebel against god (If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left (Hebrews 10:26). The Lord is showing his love for us by his discipline. Like a father would loving discipline his child for there own benefit. He’s doing this to us. Jesus should be our only role model and as a Christian inspiring to be like him should be the most important goal we have. To be sinless like him. His discipline will guide us into accomplishing this way more easier then we could possibly do on our own. You are not truly his son or daughter if he doesn't do this. Discipline is not permanent. It’s not going to be pleasant and Hardship will come not only will it test your faith but as well be his discipline for you. There might be stress and other pains, that might be uncomfortable but keep your faith and trust there will be a lot of positive gain to which should be your main goal to be like him.
In conclusion the points I’m trying to make in this sermon are simple. We need the lords discipline he is showing his love for us when he does this. The best way for us to truly change into his image is by going through this. It’s not permanent and there are going to be hardships you go through and this is going to hurt at times but don’t take it negatively. in the end you will be glad. You will have so much righteousness and you will have abundance of peace. Thank you and God bless. See less
Is it alright to enjoy the pleasures of the world that go completely against the Bible and its teaching? Today I would like to go into my first sermon, "Are You A Part Of This World?" We will be reading Hebrews 10:26–39 and the message about repentance, putting God first and following his word to the best of our ability so that Jesus' sacrifice matters. Many of us think it's okay to go back to our sinful life after receiving Jesus Christ as our lord and savior. Doing the same things, the unbelieving do, from simple things like going to watch the latest hit movie, or listening to any concert, which are both not Christian but from some type of anti-Christian source. Sin is sin and we can't justify it by saying it's not that bad by our standards. What happens, though, if we continue to live in sin? Where are we in eternal life?
Please read the following Hebrews 10:26–39. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgement and of a raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28. Anyone who rejected Moses' law died without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses.29 How much harsher do you believe someone deserves to be punished for trampling on the Son of God, treating the blood of the covenant that sanctified them as unholy, and insulting the Spirit of grace?30 For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 32. Remember the days after you received the light, when you were enduring a great conflict filled with suffering.33 At times, you were publicly humiliated and persecuted; at other times, you stood alongside those who were subjected to such treatment.34 You suffered alongside those in prison and joyfully accepted confiscation of your property because you knew you had better and more lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done God's will, you will receive what he has promised. 37 For, "In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay."38 And, "But my righteous one will live by faith." And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. " 39 But we do not belong to those who retreat and perish, but to those who believe and are saved.
So how does this tie into our day to-day lives? Are those non-Christian pleasures like that new anti-Christian movie or that anti-Christian concert acceptable? After reading this, you can see it is not even close to acceptable. Sin is sin, and we cannot justify it by saying it is alright. We are here apart from them, not to live the same as they do. As Paul said in Romans 8, we cannot even let sin reign in our mortal body; we control even our thoughts. So, as Christians, we do not choose to sin when we believe we turn from and follow righteousness (2 Peter 3:9, 9). The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.). We have to share the gospel with them, not just enjoy what they are doing. We are saved and we have to act like we are by showing God we are faithful and doing what he wants us to do. Which is to follow the very word that has been given to us as a guideline. It is not to pick and choose which part of the law is not as bad as other parts. We have to try our best to follow the entire law, down to the most basic commands like loving the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (Matthew 22:37). If we do not do this, we are becoming enemies of God because we know the truth and we are choosing not to follow it. We are very lucky that the love of Jesus entered our lives to bring us into a place in ourselves where we can actually become righteous people (2 Corinthians 5:21). This is a religion, and we have laws we need to follow. Yes, we should all have a relationship with the Lord, but there is a penalty for our sin if we deliberately choose to give into them. If you shrink back to the life you had before knowing him, there will be consequences for what you have done. Do you want eternal life or the counterpart of it, his wrath, aka damnation? Doing this is showing Jesus that we are actually walking over the very grace he showed all of us. That his sacrifice is an excuse to live like non-believers, who don't even know who he is or believe in him. Separate yourselves from the lust of this world. So we actually have a savior who actually died for us. What we must do is to completely surrender our entire lives to God. It might seem hard in a world that does not know him, but trust him and follow everything in the bible. If we are truly his people, we will observe his law. For if we do not repent, punishment will come to us; even if we are born again, we are still under punishment. The fact is that he is our god and if he wrote it, we must follow it. Turn away, far away from those heinous crimes. Live as a child of God. Righteous people do not go and enjoy things that are not Christian. We observe every aspect of the word. So, God can bless you in everything you do (2 Corinthians 9:8).
In conclusion, live a life pleasing to God. Show him that his sacrifice means something to you more than your own ways, your own fleshly desires. Turn your lives away from sin in everything that you do. Don’t be friends with this world or you’re against God (James 4:4).
Amen, and God bless you!
Stay Faithful!
