Getting to Hamilton from AirPorts

Arriving via Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)

For most international travellers, the most convenient way to reach Hamilton is by flying into Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

Option 1: Taxi or Ride-Sharing (Uber/Lyft)

• Travel Time: Approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic.

• Estimated Cost: CAD $110-$150.

• Details: Taxis are available at designated airport stands, and ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft that operate throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Option 2: GO Transit Bus Service

• Travel Time: Approximately 1.5 hours.

• Estimated Cost: Around CAD $12-$15 per person (discounts available with a PRESTO card).

Travellers may take GO Transit Route 40, which provides direct service from Toronto Pearson Airport's Go Bus Terminal to Hamilton GO Centre (36 Hunter Street East, Hamilton, ON).

The GO Bus terminal at Toronto Pearson Airport is located on the ground level of Terminal 1. Travelers arriving at Terminal 3 can use the free Terminal Link train to reach Terminal 1.

From Hamilton GO Centre, visitors can reach McMaster University or their hotel by local transit or taxi or Uber in approximately 10-20 minutes.

Arriving via Hamilton International Airport (YHM)

Another convenient option is to fly directly into John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM), located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Hamilton and McMaster University. However, the airport offers fewer international flight connections than Toronto Pearson International Airport, which may make Pearson the more convenient choice for many international travellers.

Getting to McMaster University from Hamilton Downtown
To get from downtown Hamilton to the McMaster University campus, you can take the Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) bus or a taxi. The HSR has many routes that connect the downtown area with the campus.

• PRESTO cards can be used on both GO Transit and Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) services. Attendees arriving via GO Transit may use the same PRESTO card for local travel within Hamilton, including trips to and from McMaster University.
