Jung-Il joined the department of Emerging Materials Science in DGIST in 2012. Before he came to DGIST, he worked at Georgia Tech, UCSD, and RPI after his Ph.D. from Northwestern University.

His primary research areas include processing and characterization of magnetic nanomaterials. He is studying broad range of materials (including metals, metal oxides, and semiconductors) in various forms (such as thin film, nanoparticles, nanowires, nanoplates, and bulk).
