Spider-Man Mask - Spider Sense

Overview/Goal/Purpose

Our final project draws inspiration from one of the most beloved superheroes: Spider-Man. We plan to construct a mask/helmet that will simulate his “Spidey-Sense” ability and to allow users to determine which direction a potential hazard is coming from. LiDAR sensors on the side and back of the helmet will alert the user of any incoming objects that are not in their field of view, and a vibration motor from the same direction as the object will notify the user of its presence. Additionally, there will be a Bluetooth display that connects to Termite to show the stats such as the direction or distance of the incoming objects.

Special thanks to Caleb Dueck for inspiring this project. Thank you to Luke, Wesley, and Patricia for helping with the demo. Given more time, this project could have been improved:

1. Making a PCB for a cleaner design

2. Hypertuning the distance and vibration parameters for more accurate detections

3. Adding more sensors for more areas of detection

NOTE: The dodging application took multiple shots. The sensing works as intended, but it took a few tries for Alvin to get the hang of reacting to the vibrations. Although Alvin now has Spiderman's Spider Senses, he unfortunately does not have Spiderman's reflexes, which is why he could still get hit.
