Summary of page
A Marvel Comics character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962. Peter Parker, a teenager from Queens, NY, gains spider-like abilities after being bitten by a radioactive spider. With the motto “With great power comes great responsibility,” Spider-Man becomes a hero while balancing his personal life and struggles.
The classic Spider-Man logo often features a spider symbol, evolving over time with variations based on his suits. The red-and-black design is iconic, representing agility and the web-slinging persona.
The black suit first appeared in Secret Wars #8 (1984). It was an alien symbiote that enhanced Spider-Man's abilities but had a corrupting influence. Peter later rejected it, leading to the creation of Venom, one of his most dangerous foes.
Spider-Man exists in multiple universes, with several variants:
Spider-Man Noir: A 1930s version operating in a gritty, crime-filled world.
Spider-Gwen (Gwen Stacy): A parallel universe where Gwen gains spider powers.
Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’Hara): A futuristic version of Spider-Man from the year 2099.
Ben Reilly: A clone of Peter Parker who briefly takes on the Spider-Man mantle.
Spider-Ham: A comedic anthropomorphic pig version.
Introduced in Ultimate Fallout #4 (2011), Miles Morales is a teenager of African-American and Puerto Rican descent. After Peter Parker’s death in the Ultimate Universe, Miles becomes Spider-Man. His unique abilities include invisibility and bio-electric venom blasts.
Knull is the dark deity who created the symbiotes, including Venom. Introduced in Venom (2018), Knull is an ancient, malevolent entity who wields the All-Black, the first symbiotic weapon. His conflict with Spider-Man and Venom culminates in King in Black (2020).
Spider-Man’s rogues' gallery is one of the most iconic in comics:
Green Goblin (Norman Osborn): A genius industrialist turned psychotic villain.
Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius): A scientist with mechanical tentacles.
Venom (Eddie Brock): Born from the rejected black symbiote.
Carnage (Cletus Kasady): A murderous symbiote offspring of Venom.
Sandman (Flint Marko): A criminal with the ability to manipulate sand.
The Lizard (Dr. Curt Connors): A scientist who transforms into a reptilian monster.
Kingpin (Wilson Fisk): A crime lord who opposes Spider-Man.
Electro (Max Dillon): A villain with electrical powers.
Mysterio (Quentin Beck): A master of illusions.
Kraven the Hunter: A big-game hunter obsessed with capturing Spider-Man.
Vulture (Adrian Toomes): A villain with a mechanical flying suit.
