I have always been an island girl. I was born and raised on Long Island, NY and the many hours we spent at the beach left an undying love of all things sand and sea. As an adult I was privileged to spend 17 years of my life living with my family in the archipelago of Indonesia. From the moment I set foot on Java, all 5 senses were immediately engaged in new and wonderful sights, smells, sounds and tastes. Living on this island only cemented my affinity to island living, and I am forever deeply attached to these 2 island worlds.
I come from a family of creatives and lovers of art, so during my life on Java, it was a delight to be surrounded by a culture with an amazing and rich art history. I especially connected with the art of batik. The craftsmanship and beauty of this art form continually inspires and informs my artistic style.
