What is 2nd Grade up to in music class?

2nd graders are focusing on:

• Understanding the parts of the music staff

  • Treble clef, barline, measure, repeat sign, and double barline

• Being able to hear and determine the form of a song

• New rhythms:

  • Half note (ta-a)

  • Half rest

• New tempo markings:

  • Presto (very fast)

  • Andante (walking pace)

  • Moderato (moderate/medium pace)

• New dynamic markings:

  • Fortissimo (very loud)

  • Pianissimo (very soft)
