POP art unit!
Introduction to POP ART - creating a food sculpture inspired by art such as the "Spoon Bridge and Cherry" in Minneapolis.
Patterns and Color- through experimentation students created patterns to make in interesting POP ART design on a pre-made cherry image. We experimented with colors, all types of lines that enhanced our composition.
Name art- using our names students created art that shows creative self expression. They used patterns, lines and color to illustrate their own style of art making.
Bekele the un-imaginary friend
Using their imagination students will invent an imaginary friend. They will draw their friend and create an adventure that they are doing together.
With problem solving and experimentation threw doing, students will create their imaginary friend out of clay.
Seeing Shapes around us
Incorporating shapes into a drawing from a magazine. discussion on horizon lines in nature and similarities when making a rooms. They will identify shapes, cut and glue onto paper, then draw an image around the shapes to create a story or a mood.
Maps
USA Map- Tracing the USA Map to understand the shape of our country and painting it in the style of Jasper Johns.
South Dakota map- Learning about South Dakota landmarks, creating their own sculpture.
Map of their neighborhood-Discovering local art in their community and creating a map of where it is located.
Harvey Dunn- Identifying South Dakota artist Harvey Dunn and formulating their own representation of his painting "The Prairie is my Garden".
Plein air Artist- Understanding of Plein air painting and drawing and will create their own piece of artwork, as well as learn about two Plein air artists.
