Stained glass window- Identifying the classic "Gothic shape" and making connections that the windows tell a story.
Illuminated Manuscripts- Illustrating a page from a book from the Gothic time period.

Leonardo Unit:
Invention- Creating an invention that makes the world a better place.
Leonardo's horse- Studying horse shapes and movement to create a horse sketch and sculpture.
Mona Lisa's drawing and painting- Studying the Mona Lisa image and creating a drawing in the similar style, followed with a painting of the Mona Lisa.
Machine tracing and shading- Using stencils, students traced machine part to construct a composition that looks like a Leonardo machine with moving parts. Shading lights and dark to make things look 3-D.
Birds- Observing birds as Leonardo and creating a unique painting.
Still life-Manipulating objects on a table to create an image using shading of color pencil.
Castle drawing- Discovering the parts of a castle and and understanding why they were built.
Castle landscape/sculpture-Constructing a castle out of clay and creating a landscape for it to be placed on.

Shoe tracing/shading- Tracing an image of a shoe on white paper, transfer the shadows using shading and blending. Experimentation to create a 3-D shoe.
Paul Klee Unit
Alter Klang, Shading- A lesson on Shading light and dark.
Cat and bird- After a story about a cat and bird, students will draw Paul Klee's cat step by step then paint.
Warm and Cool colors- Creating two paintings of a city using warm and cool colors.
Eifel Tower- Observe the city of Paris France and learn its history. Students will draw the Eiffel tower how they envision seeing it if they where their in person, determining the time of year and day.
