Here you will find factual information, statistics and data related to the research topics of the project.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), 71% of carbon dioxide emissions stem from just 100 companies worldwide*(since 1988). (In addition to this, only 25 corporations and state-owned organisations were found to be responsible for over 50% of the global industrial emissions during the same time period.)
The remaining 30% of emissions are linked to individual actions, including personal transportation (cars, flights), consumption habits (food, clothing), and energy use in homes. This staggering statistic highlights that individual efforts alone cannot single-handedly solve the climate crisis. Personal choices do have an impact, but on a smaller scale. With green products costing almost 50% more than their ‘non-green’ alternatives, buying them is simply out of the question for many working-class people. As well as this, many other individuals live in areas where public transport is unavailable, and travelling by bike is not possible.
