We are St. Paul Baptist Church #1, a church with a rich legacy, a deep love for God’s people, and a heart for the community we’ve served since 1947.
Planted in the red soil of Spencer, Oklahoma, our church was birthed by a faithful few who gathered with a simple yet profound desire: to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. Through the trials of segregation and the storms of life, our founders held fast to their faith, lifting up the name of Jesus in the face of every obstacle. That same spirit of resilience and radical hope still flows through these grounds today.
For over seven decades, God has been faithful to us. We’ve seen generations raised in the fear of the Lord. We’ve dedicated babies, baptized believers, counseled the brokenhearted, and sent home the saints in glory. Through it all, SPBC has stood as a spiritual home, house of prayer, praise, and power.
We are a historic African-American church rooted in Biblical teaching, guided by the Holy Spirit, and fueled by a mission to love unconditionally, give generously, and serve faithfully. Our worship is alive, our preaching is Bible-based, and our fellowship is sincere. At SPBC, you don’t just come to church, YOU COME HOME!
Whether you're new to the faith, seeking restoration, or simply looking for a place to belong, YOU are welcome here. Come as you are, and experience the warmth of family, the power of worship, and the joy of the Lord.
-St. Paul Baptist Church #1
At St. Paul Baptist Church #1, we stand firm on the unchanging truth of God’s Word. As a traditional African-American Baptist church, our beliefs are rooted in Scripture, shaped by the Spirit, and lived out in love, service, and faith.
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is our guide for faith, life, and practice.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternally existing in three persons, co-equal and co-eternal.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19
We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. Born of a virgin, sinless in life, He died on the cross for our sins, rose on the third day with all power, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. He will return again to judge the living and the dead.
John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, empowering us for holy living, spiritual growth, and bold witness.
Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22-23
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is a gift from God, not earned by works.
Ephesians 2:8-9
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of baptized believers. We are called to worship, serve, fellowship, and proclaim the Gospel to all the world.
Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:42-47
We believe in two ordinances of the Church: baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is an outward symbol of our inward faith, and the Lord’s Supper is a sacred remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice.
Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
We believe every believer is called to live a life of holiness, obedience, and service, guided by the Word and empowered by the Spirit.
Romans 12:1-2; Micah 6:8
We believe Jesus Christ will return in glory to judge the world, gather His church, and establish His eternal kingdom.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 22:12
We believe in the reality of heaven and hell. Eternal life with God is promised to all who trust in Christ, while eternal separation awaits those who reject Him.
John 14:1-3; Revelation 20:11-15
