Trenchless Pipe Relining and Installation

What are the Benefits of Trenchless Sewer Repair?

The main benefit to trenchless repairs is less disturbance on your property. We won’t have to dig up your entire front yard to find and replace the main line. You will also save on sod and other landscaping replacements, common in traditional trench jobs. This is true of sewer pipe lining in repairing old or deteriorating pipes. We simply insert a fiberglass liner through the existing pipe, minimizing damage and unnecessary excavation. This comes with a full 50-year warranty on service and replacement.

Trenchless sewer repairs are also faster compared to traditional methods. This means shorter downtime in your plumbing. There is also less chance of a sewage spill, keeping your property clean and sanitary throughout the entire project.

You mention Perma-Liner a lot, what are its advantages?

Perma-Liner systems involve a polyurethane tube that fits snugly within old pipes. When you have a break in an underground pipe, we can snake the Perma-Liner system into the existing pipe to fill it. There’s no need to remove the old pipe, reducing time and cost factors. There is little to no digging. The Perma-Liner method provides long term solutions that beat traditional pipe replacement. It may be decades before the pipe needs to be repaired again.

Because the sewer line is cleaned and inspected with cameras before inserting the liner, you receive a clean bill of health from our experts. If there are any other issues, we will address them quickly. Learn more about the benefits of Perma-Liner here.

What about pipe bursting?

Another trenchless strategy is pipe bursting. We only need to dig two separate holes to access either end of the pipe. A bursting head with the new pipe is placed into the old pipe. As the head moves forward, it blasts the old pipe apart while pulling the new material through. A winch is often on the opposite end to pull the old pipe out of the trench. The new pipe is the only part that remains, using the old pipe’s location as a solid support for years of reliable use.

This method features limited disruption to your yard and surrounding property.

What is Pipelining?

Pipelining (aka pipe relining) is an excavation-free method to repair those corroded pipes without destroying your landscaping.

Benefits of pipelining

Because this technology is less invasive than trenching, you’ll receive many benefits from this method of pipe restoration. Here are a few of the perks:

  • Spend Less Money: No renting an expensive excavating truck, paying labor for the excavation operator, or replacing your landscaping.
  • Time Saving: Generally, pipelining at a home or a small commercial location takes a day rather than disrupting you for days.
  • Better Than cast iron: The material used is stronger than your old cast iron pipes. In fact, it lasts for up to 50 years!
  • Less Mess: You won’t be left with a yard to repair when we are done.
  • Quieter: Skip the noise of the heavy equipment. The quieter installation is less disruptive to your day.

What’s the Pipelining Process?

Because pipelining is a relatively new technology, we are often asked about how the pipelining process works. Take a quick look.

1. Video Inspection, First!

Before we begin the process, we do a video inspection. Our technician will review the images sent back to him to determine if the pipes are blocked by grease, sludge, tree roots, or any other obstruction.

2. Water Jets

We use a high-pressure water jet to flush away any blockages. We cannot insert the liner until the area is free of obstructions.

3. A Second Video Inspection

After we flush, the technician will double-check to make sure that all obstructions have been blasted away by the high water pressure. This gives us a “clean slate” to work with.

4. Take Measurements

Once the area is clear of debris and the technician has decided that pipelining is a feasible option, he will spend some time doing careful calculations to determine the amount of liner and resin needed and set up to install your new liner.

5. Inserting the Liner

The plumber will use special equipment to insert the liner materials into your existing pipes.

6. Put under Air Pressure

The technician will use air pressure to cure the liner into a hardened, permanent solution to rid you of your pipe corrosion problems.

Once the curing process is finished, you are immediately able to use your water system.

5 Signs You Need Sewer Drain Pipelining

Not sure if you need sewer drain pipelining? Here are 5 common symptoms of deteriorating sewer drains:

Sewer backups or blockages

Slow draining toilets are often caused by a backup farther down the line. You don’t see the problem, but it’s lurking below.

Sewage odor

The smell of sewage is abnormal. It means that you’re about to have big problems. Act fast to prevent huge headaches!

Formation of mildew

Mildew needs moisture to thrive. A mildew spot on the wall in the vicinity of a pipe is indicative that there is moisture build up.

Water drains slowly

If your sinks or showers drain slowly, and you’ve attempted to free the line of hair or soap scum, you may have another underlying issue like a tree root disrupting drainage.

Pest Infestations

Mice, rats, and insects can gain access to your home in tiny cracks in the sewer pipes. If you’ve been keeping up with regular exterminating but can’t stop the invasion of pests, look to your sewer pipes as a possible weak point.

What are some signs that it’s time to repipe your home?

We advocate preventive maintenance. This means getting to the problem before further issues have a chance to develop. Look out for these trouble signs that let you know pipe replacement is needed:

Does your water have a red tint to it? If it seems a bit red when you first turn on the faucet, your pipes are starting to rust.

Noticing low water pressure? Your pipes may be leaking. Repiping is necessary if this is a recurring problem.

Is your home over 20 years old? Homes beyond this age often require a professional pipe inspection to see if replacement is necessary.

Why do galvanized steel pipes need to be replaced?

Galvanized steel pipes were once thought to last for years without problems. However, they are prone to severe clogging and corrosion over time.

If you have galvanized steel pipes that need to be replaced, contact us for immediate help.

Does your home have polybutylene piping?

This is another piping material that will inevitably need replacement. Polybutylene pipes react negatively to various chemicals found in the water supply, including chlorine, which can cause the pipes to flake and fall apart. This is dangerous to the overall structure and foundation of your home.

Contact us immediately to replace polybutylene piping in your home.

What piping material should you install?

We recommend installing copper or PEX pipes.

Copper: These pipes are known for long term reliability and can withstand harsh conditions. They often come with a 50-year warranty.

PEX: This kind of piping is more flexible than other types, making it easier to install. PEX pipes are less prone to corrosion and can also expand to three times their original diameter–this means they are less likely to crack in freezing temperatures.
