Strengthening a palliative approach in long-term care, together with homes and champions across New Brunswick.
SPA-LTC is a palliative approach to care that supports people living with chronic and life-limiting illnesses to experience the best possible quality of life.
It helps care teams, residents, and families:
Improve comfort and quality of life
Have conversations early about care, wishes, and future needs
Provide care that respects each person’s values and wishes
Build a consistent approach to palliative care that can be adapted to each care setting
A palliative approach can begin at any stage of a chronic or life-limiting illness and continue throughout the person’s illness journey.
SPA-LTC is for people who care for or support people living with life-limiting illness in Long-Term Care (LTC) and Special Care Home (SCH) settings in New Brunswick.
This includes:
Nursing home and special care home staff
Adult Residential Facility (ARF) staff and care providers
Health care providers, such as nurses, physicians, and nurse practitioners
Care partners, families, and loved ones
Leaders, managers, and others who support care
Community partners and service providers
