KONNICHIWA (Hello!)

I am Kenichi Shida, Local Lead for NASA Space Apps Challenge Tokyo.

Following my role in 2024 and 2025, I am honored to serve as the Local Lead again for 2026. I look forward to working with all of you.

The NASA Space Apps Challenge is the world's largest hackathon, utilizing open data from NASA, JAXA, and other space agencies worldwide. Participants from diverse backgrounds gather to develop innovative ideas, applications, and services addressing challenges in space, Earth, technology, and art to make our world a better place. Top teams selected locally will advance to the Global Judging and compete with teams from around the globe.

In 2026, as the use of AI continues to expand rapidly, programming and product creation are becoming more accessible than ever, opening up a field where anyone can take on the challenge.

For NASA Space Apps Challenge Tokyo 2026, we have strengthened our support team and are thrilled to announce that we have finally secured an in-person venue! We are fully committed to supporting your courageous challenge.

We encourage you to collaborate with teammates from different backgrounds and creatively tackle these global challenges.
