Are YOU the next Art Docent Coordinator ready to help keep this time honored program alive?

The Art Docent Program is a visual arts program designed to extend and enrich the visual arts experience for our Southport Ducks in grades TK - 5th by bringing educational art lessons and fun art projects into our classrooms on a monthly basis. Art Docent is ran and funded by Southport PTO in collaboration with parent volunteers like you!

Plan a Lesson

Choose a grade-appropriate Lesson
Schedule a date and time with your teacher
Fill out the Art Lesson Submission and Supply Inquiry form to reserve the supplies you need - this form gets submitted to southportartdocent@gmail.com
The Art Docent Coordinators will create the event and add your Art Lesson to the Google Calendar
Connect with your class teacher and parents to help with your Art Lesson

Deliver the Lesson on Art Day! (1 hour total)

Present the lesson powerpoint (encourage discussion!)
Guide the students through the lesson
Inspire and help the kids with their art!
Clean up

How to assist as an Art Docent

Reach out to your child's teacher to inquire about the next lesson and to be connected with other Art Docents for your class
Add the lesson date and time to your personal calendar
Show up and assist the Art Docent Lesson Planner during the lesson
Inspire and help the kids with their art
Help to clean up after the lesson
