Anyone age 10 and older is welcome to join!
If you have a disability, you are welcome to participate as a Star. If you have a mild disability, you may choose the role that best fits you—you are welcome to participate as either a Star or a volunteer. The choice is yours, and we are happy to have you as part of the South Hills Stars family!
If you are age 10 or older and would like to help others, you are welcome to join as a volunteer.
Not at all! No previous experience is required. We will teach you everything you need to know. If you do have experience with color guard, dance, percussion, or a related activity, we welcome your skills—but it is absolutely not required. Everyone is encouraged to join, learn, and have fun!
For practices, please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Tennis shoes or other athletic shoes are recommended. We also have fun theme days throughout the season, so be sure to check the schedule you receive on the first day of practice.
For performances, Stars will wear their South Hills Stars shirt with black bottoms whenever possible. Additional performance attire details will be sent by email before each event.
Yes! If space, time, and volunteer availability allow, we may be able to have you observe or participate in a class before registering.
If you're interested in trying a class, please email SouthHillsStars@gmail.com to inquire about availability. We'd love the opportunity to meet you and answer any questions you may have!
Parents and caregivers are always welcome at South Hills Stars!
We ask that parents and caregivers remain at or near every practice and performance in case of an emergency. During practice, we ask that guardians wait outside the gym or classroom unless their Star needs their support. If your child would like your help, you are always welcome to assist them.
If your child has behavioral needs, a parent, caregiver, or one-to-one support person who is not serving as a South Hills Stars volunteer must remain with them at all times to provide support and ensure everyone's safety.
If your child has medical needs that require monitoring or assistance, we also ask that a parent or caregiver remain nearby and be available if needed.
Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, welcoming, and supportive environment where every Star can be successful while ensuring families are available if additional support is needed.
Yes! We offer scholarships to help make South Hills Stars programs accessible to everyone.
If you would like to be considered for a scholarship that covers the program registration fee, please email SouthHillsStars@gmail.com and let us know that you would like to be considered for a scholarship. All requests are reviewed confidentially, and we are committed to helping as many participants as possible.
