Placement in our concert ensembles is determined through an annual, competitive audition process that allows students to be placed in an ensemble that matches their current skill level. Each group performs in two parades annually, as well as at our Holiday and Spring Concerts, showcasing their progress and musicianship throughout the year.

From August to November, all students in the South Hills Band program come together to form the marching band, a unified and high-performing group that provides musical support at every South Hills football game, presents engaging halftime shows, and represents the school at local marching contests. All band members are required to be in the marching band in the fall semester.
The band has qualified for the Area F Marching Contest for four consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025), marking the program’s first 5A Area appearances in school history.
