Why Forest School?
Nature schools prepare children holistically for their futures in a more natural way, as human beings for millions of years spent their days outdoors in nature, and only recently have become switched to primarily spending days inside staring at screens. All over the world for centuries, humans have spent time in nature; in vision quests, meditations, hunting, relocating, forging food, gathering around a fire, sharing stories, music and songs with community.
Your child's future academic successes has more to do with early engagement in social, emotional, fine motor, and gross motor development than in memorizing the order of theletters of the alphabet. Offering uninterrupted space in nature lends to critical thinking skills and collaboration with others, which is a crucial aspect of today’s academic environments.
Immersion in nature helps develop respect and love for our environment. Observing the tiny insect, the soaring bird, the crawling worm, noticing the changes in trees throughout the seasons, the tracks of animals, all fosters admiration and wonder at the world.

StorySeed Hollow Forest School Curriculum — “a year of rhythm, story, and wonder under open skies. The best classroom has roots, wings, and weather. It invites you to teach not through hurry or control, but through presence, reverence, and the slow unfolding of the seasons.
Each month follows the rhythm of nature — the subtle shift of light, the turning of leaves, the long pause of winter, the stirring of spring. Each week offers a story, a circle verse, a craft, and a journal invitation — all designed to help children connect with the living world through imagination, sensory experience, and heart-centered learning.
