Founded in 1819 by Andrew Long, Caleb Hanna, and Alexander McDougle. First location was on West Church Street with cemetery attached. In 1820 this church was almost ruined by a violent storm. Repaired and used until 1833 when it was rebuilt. This was the First church in Masontown. A new structure was started in 1892. It was dedicated sometime between 1894-1896. The Church was under Uniontown Circuit 1828-1851, and Fayette Circuit 1851-1886. It was a part of the Smithfield Charge from 1886 to 1907, and on a Circuit with Fairchance from 1907 to 1934. In 1934 Masontown became a station charge. Church membership in 1968 was 466. Membership on January 1, 2003 was 219. It has survived a fire and stands as a testament to the resilient grace and God and the wonderful people of the community. In 2018, Masontown UMC became one of 14 churches in a newly formed cooperative ministry called South Fayette Cooperative Parish, serving communities in southern Fayette County.
