PTA: Parent Teacher Association
The PTA at Southern Elementary is a group of parents, teachers, and community members that care about our students. We want the best for them and believe that each child can acheive great things! We want to provide programming that will enrich the lives of our students and help families connect with each other.
PTA is...
NOT... just Fundraising! Yes, we do some fundraising to support our programs, but we try to keep it to a minimum by focusing our fundraising on 2 large events; Fall Booster Glow Run and Spring Carnival's Silent Auction. After your membership fee of $7, there is no requirement to give money to PTA.
NOT... a huge time commitment. You can devote as much or as little time to PTA as you wish. We offer many opportunities for everyone to volunteer, to be involved, and to give. You can volunteer every week to make copies for teachers, you can volunteer to pick up a gift card for Spring Carnival, once... or you can remain informed and bring your student to some of our events. All levels of time commitment and volunteering are important.
FUN... You will meet other parents and staff in our school community and work together to support Southern Elementary. The works that we sponsor and support are fun and exciting events that are planned for our students, staff, and community.
