Let's give a huge Thank You to everyone that showed up for our annual Spruce Up Day!  It definitely takes a village to keep things looking nice!  Officer Elam spent some time Friday getting a head start on things. And then on Saturday August 2nd, the crew including Ms Holley, Mr Ledbetter, and so many more helping hands showed up to put the planters in place, spread mulch and clean up our landscaping.  Thank you Sean and Sonya Lynch for caring for the plants for the past few weeks!

We saw so many Southern Stars at the Back to School Rally on August 2nd.  This was a very nice event sponsored by the YMCA, so many community partners, and FCPS.  Southern's PTA and FRC, Ms Connors, attended the rally to greet students and share available services.  We were excited to meet many players from the Tates Creek Football team- they were very helpful volunteers for the event.  A big shout out to our community partners, McDonalds and Central Baptist Church for donating treats for the event. Our PTA spoke to hundreds of parents from FCPS about the importance of PTA at their home schools and invited them to join.  Southern's PTA membership is open, so please join today!

PTA welcomed students to Kindergarten's Orientation Days with a fabulous sign in the drop off line.  Then, parents and student's at Southern's Kindergarten Night learned more about Southern Elementary and some of our policies and procedures like how the car line works, how Kindergarteners will get breakfast, and first day traditions.  PTA greeted parents and students with cookies and lemonade, "You're a Star" keychains for the kids and a first day survival pack for parents.  We are excited to welcome our Kindergarten families to the Village at Southern. We can't wait to get to know you!
