The teams are made up of wrestlers from each team's community in grades K thru 6. Each team in the league could be comprised of a Varsity team, a Junior Varsity team and an Exhibition team. The VEWL holds a League tournament at the end of each year for Varsity, Junior Varsity and Novice wrestlers.
Indicator Definitions
E = Exhibition / Novice
J = JV
V = Varsity
Roster Indicators:
1. Grades P thru 3 will be set to "E" to start.
2. Grades 4 thru 6 will be set to "J" to start.
3. If a wrestler's indicator is set to "E" and they WRESTLE 1 varsity match (win, lose or FF) or 3 JV matches (win, lose or FF), the indicator will be changed to a "J".
4. If a wrestler's indicator is set to "J" and they wrestle and win 3 varsity matches (FF not counted), the indicator will be changed to a "V".
NOTE: Placement quad week (week# 7 – last weekend of the year) as well as the JV/Novice only
weekends (week 2 & week 6) DO NOT count toward the above-mentioned thresholds.
Varsity League Tournament : Minimum Participation Rule -
To be eligible to participate in the varsity tournament you must weigh-in and participate in no less than 3 events weekends for your team.
Weight Certifications – to qualify to wrestle a weight at the end of year tournaments you Must make the lower weight 2 out of the 4 of the weighs in that count toward certification
Certification Weeks – ONLY Weeks 1, 3, 4, and 5 (Week #s: 1 - Varsity Only/ 3 -Quad/4-Varsity Only / 5-Quad)
Also note 1 of the 2 times you make weight must be in the 1st half of the season in
weeks 1 or 3 before the allowance goes into effect.
NOTE: Weeks 2, 6 (JV / Novice Weeks) and week 7 (league placement quads) are not weeks a wrestler can use for certification purposes as outlined above.
