About Us

Southern Local Bands is a young band program based out of Southern Local School District in Corning, Ohio. After about a twenty year hiatus, the program started back up in the 2021-2022 school year. Our program is full of excitement and potential with a group of kids who are excited to have band back in our school.

Our band program understands that every student has potential, and every student holds an important place in our performing ensembles. Being a part of a performing group offers an extraordinary opportunity to challenge students and help them develop cognitively, affectively, socially, collaboratively, and physically. Furthermore, performing in a musical ensemble affords students a vehicle for emotional expression, furtherance of intrinsic worth, and development of self-discipline. This helps reinforce students for the challenges of life, both academically and beyond the classroom.
