The South Asian Artists Association of America (S4A) is a diverse collective of artists with roots in South Asia, now based in the United States. Founded in New Jersey in 2016 by a small group of artists, the association has since expanded to over 100 members nationwide. With origins in South Asian countries, some were born in North America, others in South Asia, and some have lived in various countries before making the USA their home. All these artists draw inspiration from their South Asian heritage, identities, communities, and unique cross-cultural life experiences.
The artists' practices explore an array of subject matter and styles, from contemporary to traditional. They are active at both national and international levels, blending cultural heritage with modern expression across various mediums like painting, photography, sculpture, wood burning, beadwork, digital art, ceramics, and more. Through local exhibitions, global collaborations, and outreach programs, the association aims to elevate South Asian artistry and foster a vibrant dialogue between tradition and creativity in the global art landscape.
