Battle of the Books is a way for South Side students to celebrate Black History Month by challenging their book knowledge as they independently read books that celebrate Black history, culture, achievement and excellence. Our team was selected by Mr. Lash based on student interest, and teacher recommendation. We will battle it out with teams from other Champaign schools on February, 25 at the main Champaign Public Library to see who has the greatest knowledge of the “battle” books.
We have been reading many of the books in the library during library instruction. Students also read on their own in their spare time. Books can be read in our library, the public library and on YouTube. As part of the battle, teams will answer three types of questions: Title of the book, Multiple choice, and True or false. Every person on the team should read all of the books. We will then each pick 3-4 books to be “expert” books.
Come join us and cheer us on!
