South Portland Flag Football (SPFF) is a division within the non-profit booster group for the South Portland youth, middle school and highschool football teams. The SP Football boosters provides organizational services and oversees the SPFF program.
We are an organization of dedicated volunteers who have prided ourselves on keeping the cost of each participant's fee to one of the lowest in the Maine Youth Football League, and we have accomplished this through community donations, concessions, raffles and registration fees. SP Football Boosters receives no financial assistance from the City of South Portland.
SPFF has many volunteer coaches but can always use more. A youth coach is one of the hardest, most demanding responsibilities and opportunities a person can have. Yet, it is also one of the most rewarding experiences as well. As a coach, you would have the ability to teach, to learn, to give back to the sport and community and to create wonderful memories for a child. As a coach, you can instill a lifelong love for sports in the hearts of children in our community.
The main purpose of the South Portland Flag Football Program is to provide a safe, fun, learning environment where players have the opportunity to participate and enjoy the game of flag football. We feel strongly and it is the expectation that all players have the chance to participate, and that player development, not winning, is the ultimate goal and the ultimate outcome for all players is that all are excited to continue participation(player retention) so we can grow the South Portland Football Program.
