Welcome to MET-Lab!
We are a group of interdisciplinary researchers from diverse backgrounds committed to solving critical challenges in energy transition, decarbonization and sustainability. Growing technoeconomic competitiveness of renewable energy (RE) technologies prompts us to rethink the ways we cycle energy and products in a circular economy. Our research is strongly motivated by the potential of rationally designed materials and interfaces to enable RE-driven waste-to-wealth conversion in a closed carbon loop. We develop multiscale functional materials and processes for catalyzing sustainable chemical transformations through reaction engineering and understanding of structure-activity correlations. Our research lies at the confluence of materials science/engineering, physical & solid-state chemistry and chemical engineering (process intensification, devices and reactors). Carbon capture & utilization, green hydrogen and sustainable chemicals & fuels production are some of the key applications we are interested in. The fundamental understanding of mechanisms, kinetics, structure-property correlations and evolution of materials at dynamic interfaces is pivotal to the development of feedback loops for boosting performance outcomes. At a broader level, we believe these innovations will solve critical bottlenecks in emerging chemical transformations and energy conversion/storage techs to catalyze transition towards Net Zero and sustainable Air-Water-Energy nexus.
I welcome you to explore our website and correspond with us. We are excited about how renewable energy technologies can positively impact our society and environment in the coming decades. We strive to be at the forefront of such endeavors. Let's work together on exciting problems and leave our footprints on the roadmap of sustainable energy transition.
Best Wishes,
Soumya.
