Meet Our Board

Mike Floersch has been an educator since 1992.  He graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in Mathematics, a teaching license, and a coaching license.  He earned his Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota, Mankato and then continued to earn 60 more education credits through Andrew's University.  Mike has been an Associate Professor for Saint Mary's University since 2005 and he currently teaches in their Masters of Education Program.  He has been teaching math and coaching soccer in School District 196 since 1996.  In 2022, Mike Floersch was hired as the ISD196 Secondary Mathematics Instructional Coach where he supports almost 130 middle school and high school math teachers while also staying in the classroom by teaching one math course at Valley Middle School of Stem.

Trent Halvorson: Trent is a District 196 alum.  He is the Vice President of Franchisor Relations for FranChoice Inc.  Trent joined FranChoice in 2013 and has served in many capacities since then, including managing the franchisor selection process, training and supporting new and existing consultants, and has trained dozens of franchise developers. He also created systems to assist the franchisors in improving their sales processes. Trent currently oversees the entire franchisor side of the business. Prior to joining FranChoice he spent 17 years at Best Buy Co. in many roles including Territory Marketing Manager and Senior Customer R&D Manager. During his time as the Territory Marketing Manager, he was responsible for understanding the competitive retail landscape in his territories. He collected strategic and tactical information and developed strategies to gain revenue and market share. Trent served as the single point of contact for primary retail intelligence for his territories. In his role as the Sr. Customer R&D Manager he was responsible for retail execution of all company test products and sales strategies.

Leslie GagnonLeslie Gagnon is a District 196 alum.  She has been an educator since 2000.  She graduated from Winona State University with a Masters in Education and has continued her education through St. Thomas to earn 60 more education credits.  Before working in District 196, Leslie worked in the Anoka Hennepin School District where she was both a teacher and a math coach.  Leslie has worked as an educator in District 196 since 2007.  She has been a 6th, 7th and 8th grade math teacher as well as a district peer leader and an online middle school math teacher.  Leslie is currently teaching 6th grade math, double accelerated 7th grade math and is a Gifted and Talent Development Coordinator at Valley Middle School of STEM.
