Executive function skills are the mental processes that enable us to initiate tasks, plan ahead, prioritize, stay organized, process information, and recall it when needed. Often described as the brain’s “control center,” these skills are located in the prefrontal cortex and help us navigate daily challenges—whether at school, home, or work.
Success in any setting also depends on our ability to switch tasks smoothly, focus on important details, and set realistic, achievable goals. Without strong executive function skills, students often struggle to become independent, confident learners who can manage their responsibilities on their own.
