Welcome to the Soft Robotics Lab (SoRo) in Sungkyunkwan University. Our mission is to develop flexible and compliant bio-inspired machines that can interact with the world in unique and adaptable ways.
Our main research themes are as follows:
Soft actuators that can power future soft or rigid robotic systems. Our goal is to improve the limits of soft actuators such as pneumatic actuators and smart materials through the application of engineering principles and the development of novel actuation methods that can have novel functions or higher performance in terms of force, displacement or modes of actuation.
Soft devices that can be used for modulating and interpreting the deformation of structures. This includes the development of ultra-stretchable sensors and novel jamming structures capable of modulating the deformation of the structure.
Soft robotic applications such as human-scale soft robotic arms, soft grippers, and wearable devices. We believe that the advent of soft robots will depend on their intrinsic properties stemming from their design and their components.
