Student Teaching Parent Newsletter
I like to send out a weekly email newsletter to parents outlining each subject. In each subject, I will tell parents where we've been, where we are, where we're going, how they can support student learning at home. For example,
Math:
Where we've been: Last week, we just finished up learning how to tell time to the 5 minutes.
Where we are: This week, we are working on telling time to the minute.
Where we are going: Next week, we will be looking at elapsed time.
How you can support your child's learning at home:
Ask your student to tell time throughout the day on an analog clock or watch.
Give them examples of elapsed time:
"We will be eating dinner in 45 minutes. If it's 4:30 right now, what time will dinner be ready?"
