Master of Museum Studies Program
Aurora, Ontario
September 2023-June 2024
Exhibition held from May-June 2024 at
the Royal Rose Gallery & Aurora Armoury
For the MMSt Capstone Project, I co-curated an exhibition of archival photography from the Aurora Museum & Archives collection. My colleagues and I used this collection to explore three sub-themes: Family Portraiture, Military, and Transportation History within the contexts of Aurora. While we each collaborated on all sections and the editing process, my contributed portion was a narrative of the evolution of transportation methods and the development of Yonge Street. On this project I fulfilled the role as Project Manager, and ensured that the team was on track, while also leading meetings with both our project partners and faculty mentor.

A selection of some of the slides that I had the pleasure of researching and cataloguing at the Department of Art History.
As Image Services Cataloguer at the University of Toronto's Department of Art History, I catalogued a portion of the department's extensive collection of 35mm slides. To do, so I conducted research from reputable sources to contextualize these images as much as possible, and would input this information into the various fields on the JSTOR database. I learned a great deal about a range of topics including modernist architecture, early modern theatre and 20th century costume design.

As Curatorial Assistant at Lambton House, I was tasked with creating content to be added to an online research guide which details topics and histories relevant to communities surrounding the Lower Humber River. This involved an in-depth amount of research from a range of sources, including those found in the collections of the Archives of Ontario. Contributed topics included: Indigenous histories and the Ontario Temperance Act, which at the time had a direct impact upon Lambton House as a historic hotel/tavern.

I had the incredible opportunity to assist with the installation of the incoming exhibit:
The World of Yousuf Karsh: A Private Essence. This entailed working closely with a team to reconfigure the gallery space, and safely install a set of Mila Walls in accordance with the curatorial vision.

HeartWorks: Celebrating the Creations of Glendie Langille
August 2021
The opportunity to work at the DesBrisay Museum first came about while my family and I were preparing to honour the life of my late grandfather. As an artist of many trades and a lifelong resident of Bridgewater, it was only right that his life's work be exhibited within his community. I was put in touch with the museum Director who, after a formal interview offered me the position of Heritage Advisory Committee Intern. From there I embarked on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery. Owing to the fact that my paternal ancestry in the area can be traced back to settlement in the 1750s, I repeatedly encountered archival materials that included members of my immediate family and distant relatives.

The thing is, I've always adored thrift shopping. Garage sales raised me. In fact, my first ever job was at Value Village. But all too often would I find some exceptional vintage specimen, a fashion moment, but didn't necessarily need it for myself. I'd always wanted the chance to not only showcase the potential of these kinds of things, but also to learn more about the companies, processes, and trends that made them. Museums are in the business of collecting and studying things because we as humanity will always be infatuated with collecting and studying things.
