I started playing softball in 7th grade, and continued it throughout highschool. It became a lot more demanding in high school, as we have practices or games 6 days a week. It made my schedule extremely busy, and things definitely got complicated once it started interfering with my health.
But I am so glad that I finished my senior year playing softball, as I love the sport and my teammates and I cannot imagine my life without them. I was also fortunate enough to be co-captain my junior year and captain of the team my senior year. Being apart of the softball team has been very rewarding not just because the team is like a family, but also because it taught me how to manage my time.
Science National Honor Society is one of the only honor societies that actually has meetings and requirements to stay in it. Each year, SNHS requires its members to have gone to 6-7 meetings, attended a lecture, and done 2 projects. Some projects that I have done within the society are an environmental clean-up, making lava lamps, and extracting DNA from strawberries. I also had the privilege of attending a lecture about how food production is detrimental to the environment.
Becuause this honor society has so many requirements for graduation, it taught me that once you make a commitment, you have to follow through.
