Scalable Cell-Free Massive MIMO
Distributed cooperation and resource allocation for practical 6G networks
Distributed cooperation and resource allocation for practical 6G networks
Cell-Free massive MIMO is a promising architecture for future wireless networks, where many distributed access points jointly serve user equipment without relying on fixed cell boundaries. By moving from cell-centric operation to user-centric cooperation, Cell-Free massive MIMO can improve coverage uniformity and reduce cell-edge performance degradation.
Large-scale Cell-Free massive MIMO systems face a fundamental scalability challenge. When the number of APs and UEs increases, a single CPU cannot efficiently manage global channel estimation, cooperation control, power allocation, and data processing.
A practical solution is to divide the network into multiple processing regions. However, this introduces new problems: users near CPU boundaries may lose access to favorable access points, inter-CPU interference becomes harder to control, and excessive information exchange can offset the benefits of distributed cooperation.
Forming user-centric access point clusters based on large-scale channel characteristics to support scalable and robust distributed transmission.
Developing cooperative power allocation strategies that improve coverage robustness and fairness under practical multi-CPU architectures.
Assigning subchannels under dense and non-uniform user distributions using LSFC-based similarity and interference-aware scheduling principles.
