Design Process
With any lesson, I begin with the end in mind. I ask a series of questions
What is the goal that we want to achieve?
How will we measure that the goal has been achieved?
What information does the learner need to know to reach the goal?
How do we fill in any knowledge gaps?
What types of activities will keep the learner engaged and focused on the goal?
Once the Analysis phase is complete with the goals and methodologies are planned out, I begin the Design phase piecing the program together. Which program will work best for this goal, these learners, and the time frame? With that in mind, Development begins. I start pulling resources together and laying out content. The content is Implemented and tested first with a trial of peers to discover any areas that need improvement. Once adjustments are made, the program is pushed out to learners. Evaluations and adjustments are made throughout the process to ensure the delivery of a solid learning experience. Data is then collected and reviewed for learning gains.
