Joseph Charvarria

Joseph Charvarria graduated from Sonoma State University in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He currently works as an English teacher in South Korea and plans to attend graduate school upon returning to the United States.

Stefanie Coats

Stefanie Coats was born and raised in Sonoma County. She initially enrolled at Napa Valley Junior College as a business major but quickly decided to follow a passion for history, graduating from Sonoma State University in Fall 2019. She is fascinated by the continuum idea that the actions of people in the past affect the ways we live our lives today and tomorrow. She also enjoys the journey of writing a paper from starting the research to the moment when all the pieces of an argument finally fall into place. 

Griffin Encinas

Griffin Encinas is an Sonoma State University English major/History minor expecting to finish his B.A. in May 2021 and preparing to enter graduate school at Sonoma State University in Fall 2021, where he will further hone his Zoom skills.

April Farnham

April Farnham received her MA in History in December 2019. This article is based on research conducted for her MA thesis. She has published works on the Indigenous history/ethnohistory of California for Ethnic Studies Review, The California Indian Heritage Center Foundation, and California State Parks. In her spare time, Ms. Farnham is also a mom, public school substitute teacher, and karate instructor in Napa, California.

Jordan Jinks

Jordan Jinks is finishing his Bachelors in History at Sonoma State University. Jordan transferred to Sonoma State from Napa Valley Junior College in 2019. Aside from school, Jordan also enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, playing guitar, and barbecuing. 

Kevin Kosmatka 

Kevin Kosmatka is a third-year history major at Sonoma State University. While Kevin is originally from Camarillo, California, he chose to attend Sonoma State University due to its smaller class sizes, where he could focus on his studies while developing close relationships with his peers and professors. Kevin hopes to continue furthering his education in the near future and one day teach history at the high school level. 

Geordie Lynch

Geordie Lynch received his BA in History at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Since then, he has embarked on many careers and dabbled in many pastimes, including graphic design, video art, tour guiding, and documentary filmmaking. Geordie is now happy to be pursuing a Master’s degree in History at Sonoma State University.

Nicholas Royer

Nicholas Royer is a junior at Sonoma State Universityand is currently working on a bachelor’s degree in history. He plans on getting a master’s degree as well, and then working for a company that lets him do what he loves: researching things past the point any normal human being would die of boredom. He is passionate about woodworking and photography, and enjoys his fish tanks with guppies and South American cichlids.

Josephine Ockrassa

Josephine Ockrassa is currently pursuing her History M.A. at Sonoma State University. She holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies: German Cultural Studies from Sonoma State University. Her focus is 20th-century German history. Her research emphasizes the unique experiences of women, the LGBTQ+ community, and ethnic and religious minorities in Germany. Josephine currently interns at the UC Davis Museum of Anthropology and intends to pursue a career in museum sciences following her 2021 graduation from Sonoma State University.

Jonathan Richardson

Jonathan Richardson is a History Major and English Minor at Sonoma State University. He has gone back to college as a husband to a nurse, as a father of two young boys, all while working full-time as a Firefighter/Paramedic. He hopes one day to teach history and to write, while continuing to travel the sites of the ancient world.

Jamison Schoonover

Jamison Schoonover received his BA from Sonoma State University in 2019 and will receive his MA in history in May 2021. In the fall, he will begin the teaching credential program at Sonoma State. Having made it his goal to study history in antiquity, U.S. History, and world history, he plans on teaching at a high school or community college. While a student at Sonoma State University, Jamison worked in the Transfer Center, the First Year Experience program and as a Resident Advisor. 

Brianna Wallen

Brianna Wallen is a graduating senior with a double major in History and English. She plans on obtaining a Master’s in History with a focus on gender and LGBTQ+ history. Additionally, she intends to complete a Master’s in Library Science so that she can pursue her dream job of working as a librarian for a research university. 

Noah Whitman

Noah Whitman is a graduating senior with a major in Political Science and minors in Philosophy and History.
