Next in the series of AI for UX Designers, I decided to check out Uizard by Miro Labs new feature, "Design Review".
So I had this old design I created a while back practicing web design. I was curious to see what Uizard thought about it, knowing my design was not good. The results were promisind, so I decided to test it on one of my real designs. Uizard provided a list of strenghts and areas of improvement, along with an attention heatmap, which was pretty informative. While other tools simulate user focus, like Attention Insight plugin, I hadn't seen any that also provide a list of actionable points. They might be simple, but it's a good starting point.
Here is a sample of the list it provided on one of my old and complex designs. The review accurately pinpointed areas for improvement, but it didn't capture everything positive or that needed change. One thing I have to ass is that it might be helpful if the toold asked for the design goals and what users are trying to achieve. This way, the report can be guided in a direction that considers users' needs and wants.
Outcomes aside, my biggest challenge with UIzard was importing my design from Figma. Despite having a Figma plugin, the result is almost never accurate. If you’re importing pictures, it’s even worse with misplaced texts and icons. But for simple designs, it does just fine.
UIzard's "Design Review" feature is a promising tool, excellent for early-stage design feedback and highlighting crucial improvement areas.
