Songhatid is the revised Icelandic National Final for Song Festival. After discussions with other members of the Song Festival community, the Icelandic HoD made the decision to retire Song fyrir Island, and venture Song Festival with a new National Final format.
With inspiartion taken from the Australian 'Battle of Song', Songhatid: Island offers 3 sections of results.
Round 1 The first round allows 8 international jurors (to give their top of the entries in the final. They will award 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 and 0 points accoridngly. Following that, the entry with the least amount of points is eliminated, and will no longer have the opportunity to represent Iceland at Song Festival.
Round 2 The remaining 7 songs will then receive points from the televote element. 344 points will be shared, with each song relying on their success in the televote for points.For example, if a song receives 10% of the televotes, they will be awarded 34 points. Once all entries have recived points, a further 2 songs with the lowest overall scores will be eliminated from Songhatid: Island.
Round 3 The remaining 5 songs will now face the Icelandic juror. He will award 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 points. A number of factors including, but not limited to, personal preference, chance of success and originality. Finally, the song with the highest score at the end of the round will be crowned the winner and sent to Song Festival. The runner-up will be sent to the Second Chance Contest.
