...take for example a world located just beyond the ⬥︎□︎❒︎♎︎⬧︎ stretch of the universe, colloqiaully known as “Eclipse” due to an increased frequency of, you guessed it, eclipses (as well as all weather conditions, but “Flood” isn’t a distinguishable name). This world was older than many others, Wardens included. With time they had grown petty and cruel, experiencing everything there was to see, all that was left for them was to test the bounds of life.
It gets a little complicated here, as the world seems to have split into two semi-separate worlds at some point in time, the inciting incident being the actions of an unspecified Urzuk. These two resulting worlds were identical until one world’s Nukzeh decided to test how long they could make Summer last. The damage was incredible, turning the entirety of Sonaria into a spectacle worthy of the Gods’ attention. It got the result they wanted, some change. From that point on the Wardens began intervening with the lives of mortals more frequently than before, creating more personal connections between them and their followers. “Divine intervention” is what they called their behaviour, but it was nothing more than poking a sleeping bear. They wanted entertainment, regardless of the blood shed. This divergent world was named “Sanguis”.
Quite the opposite occurred in the other world, wherein the Wardens instead did nothing. They took on an approach similar to that of a typical Serphelius, watching everything from the sidelines via followers serving as cameras. Millenniums of absence were somehow unnoticed by the lesser minded species, though those of a higher intellect were very aware but not always complacent. Occasionally the Warden’s inactivity would stir some unrest, discussions of overthrowing their stagnant gods, but nothing would ever come of it. No creature had the willpower to go through with their plans, for they knew it was bound to result in them being harmed, regardless of the final outcome. A lack of true change resulted in a lack of a new name, so this one remained “Eclipse”, now representing a metaphorical “dark age” for the creatures within.
So the two worlds sat locked within their own little loops of blood and darkness, such a quaint life. One doing everything, the other doing nothing, neither at risk of harm. Now I’m not gonna call you stupid, obviously you can tell something went wrong eventually (why else would I be writing this). Real dangers to the Wardens ended up arising in both worlds, but for simplicity’s sake we will solely be focusing on Eclipise today.
When one imagines a god killing beast they probably picture a Kavouradis or Caldonterrus, y’know, creatures actually capable of killing the stronger wardens.VERY thankfully both of these species are too dense in the head to form an actual plan of attack. No, the danger they faced in this world was actually a lone Shararook, cast out from their Coven and forced to survive Sonaria with nothing but her mask and her child. And so she did, until whoopsie! Child dead. It can’t necessarily be counted as being “her fault” but leaving your child alone in Pride Rocks will only gain so many outcomes. Regardless, this Shararook went a tad feral and attacked the next thing she saw assuming they were the killer, and it just so happened to be the aforementioned Urzuk. Whether or not this previous act had any bearing on the whole soul-swapping shennagagins which followed is unknown, but basically the souls of the two creatures merged and split, creating two imbalanced souls.
Stuff happened, they made up, yada yada, this stuff doesn’t matter. What does matter is that through sheer rage (and possible stubbornness) the Shararook decided she would kill all the Wardens. Being the intelligent and respectable creatures that they are, the Wardens chose to completely ignore this and go about their days. Only two of the Wardens paid any attention to this little rebellion, that being Serphelius and Omnibus, though neither took any action beyond keeping an eye on them.
That sort-of brings us to the present, where uh, well 4 of the Wardens are dead. I- I don’t know man. Mother’s rage or smth I have no clue how she killed them, I’m just the scribe. Only four of the Wardens remain, that being the two who saw this coming, Farhaus, and Zohutek. Farhaus has been left alive since the Shararook isn’t quite sure what would happen if the creator of life wasn’t alive, and Zohutek is still kickin’ because she forgot they exist.
Another tricky part comes in here, as not all of the remaining Wardens were against this uprising. Serphelius and Farhaus wanted the Shararook dead, out of a mix of fear and general distaste for its disregard towards the sanctity of life. On the contrary, Omnibus was assisting them, sending down offerings to the Shararook perhaps in an attempt to bribe their way to safety. Zohutek also did not hold too much of a grudge against them, less Wardens around means they don’t need to socialise as often.
