Parent Resources for April

These are two of the Handwriting programs our teachers use. One is Handwriting Without Tears and the other is Really Great Reading.The Switzerland of Ohio School District uses a program called Handwriting Without Tears. In several classes, the writing program from Really Great Reading is use. Here are resources that you might use at home for the correct Letter Formation

CKLA Handwriting Letter Formation

Click the image to the left and download all the capital and small letters. Each letter will show a "verbal pathway".

A verbal pathway for letter formation is a teaching method where children speak aloud the directions for drawing a letter (e.g., "pull down, up, and around" for 'b') while practicing writing it. This technique associates verbal cues with motor movement, strengthening muscle memory, consistency, and spatial awareness to ensure letters are formed correctly from top to bottom.

Sometimes we as parents, find it hard to communicate with our children (no matter what age). We often just feel that we really don't know or understand our children's like and dislikes. We are often in yelling matches which makes communication difficult. The website called Understood has lots of advice and resources https://www.understood.org/en/articles/communicate-with-child-without-yelling
