Anti-racism - Support people impacted by structural racism, which we know affects health outcomes and access to resources. According to recent studies, Black people are dying at alarmingly disproportionate rates of COVID-19.
Housing and Food Security - Support houseless and food-insecure people who are uniquely affected by this crisis and unable to practice CDC recommendations -- such as proper handwashing and social distancing -- due to overcrowding of shelters and encampments, a lack of access to clean running water, and/or no longer having access to food supports (ex. public benefits and public school lunches).
Indigenous Solidarity - Support indigenous communities in their continued need for resources that are accessible and culturally relevant. These communities include high numbers of individuals who are elderly, diabetic, asthmatic, and cancer-afflicted (i.e., high risk) and could be devastated by COVID-19.
Decarceration - Support currently and formerly incarcerated people. There are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in prisons across the United States. The combination of overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, and inadequate medical care, means the threat of mass infection and mortality amongst people who are incarcerated is particularly high. With visits now prohibited in most locations, people who are incarcerated are more isolated than ever and in even greater need of commissary funds. The best way to care for these communities is to get them out of jails and into safer living conditions. Unfortunately, even for those released, they are facing an economic recession in which finding work will be close to impossible. Thus, these communities need immediate financial support.
Queer & Trans Liberation - Support queer and trans communities who are systematically discriminated against in both the housing and job market. These communities make up a disproportionate percentage of the houseless, unemployed, and incarcerated population. Many queer and trans people urgently need financial relief to survive this pandemic.
Worker Solidarity - Support poor and working class people, who are directly or indirectly forced to continue working through this crisis to keep the economy minimally afloat by providing services to middle and upper class people. Poor and working class communities are extremely vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 given their high exposure risk, and typically do not have access to adequate health care or sick leave.
