Powerful and easy-to-use, Solid Edge CAM Pro helps manufacturers define and execute a wide range of manufacturing processes, including milling, turning and feature-based machining, with comprehensive machining simulation. Simple enough for students, CAM functionality is guided with an intuitive, modern user interface (UI), instructive tutorials, and built-in templates and wizards.

Solid Edge CAM Pro Student Edition is designed to work in concert with Solid Edge CAM Pro licenses issued to academic institutions. CAM Pro Student software can design and simulate CAM models but cannot output directly to CNC machines. In order to output parts for manufacturing, CAM models developed in the student edition must be opened in CAM Pro software issued to an academic institution.

Can I preform Stress Analasys in Solid Edge ST4 student version?

I tried to do a tutorial named "Introduction to Simulation", it asks to open a new study under simulation tab, which i don't have, that raised the question is FEA allowed in the student version. In the picture it can be seen that everything related to FEA is disabled in the current product state, does it mean that FEA can't be done with the student version or is just disabled at the moment and somehow can be enabled?

Andres, I believe the Solid Edge Simulation package is not included in the free Student Edition. It is included in the University Edition. You can register in www.solidedge.com to receive a 45 day trial of SE and you'll get access to all the SE modules, including simulation.

In order to ensure students have the ability to effectively use all of the Solid Edge functionality provided, registrants are provided with links to tutorials and other online media, and granted access to a dedicated Internet forum that will allow collaboration with other students using Solid Edge. Users of the Student Edition of Solid Edge will also gain access to technical productivity tips.

To register for and download the Student Edition of Solid Edge, students can visit siemens.com/plm/solid-edge-student. The license can be renewed each year provided the user remains a qualified student.

This academic student version is built upon the award winning commercial version and includes much of the core functionality the engineering curriculum demands. Lean Solid Edge now and be better prepared to enter the job market.

You should ask your educational institution where you can get access to a lab full of computers running solid edge, that have enough compute power and LARGE or multiple displays suitable for Computer-Aided design work. They should also be making output devices, such as plotters, available for your final output (possibly with a per-sheet cost).

Funded by the National Science Foundation through an Innovations in Graduate Education grant, A2i helps students develop skills that give them an edge in an increasingly competitive workforce. The program helps students gain extra preparation for pursuing careers in industry with hands-on experience and mentoring from partners on Centennial Campus and beyond.

Job Search Strategies helps students showcase the unique skills to help them land a role within a team or company. Industry Company Site Visits with industry partners and internships give hands-on experience with connecting with potential future employers. The Team Practicum takes participants through 12 weeks of professional development to learn how to work in multidisciplinary teams. Immersion Week gives doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, and doctoral degree-holding NC State alumni, training opportunities to develop strategic skills held in high regard by industry partners. Each component helps build a skill set and knowledge base that makes A2i participants competitive and appealing to industry companies.

Offering a wide array of professional development education activities and initiatives provides a solid starting point for graduate students in A2i, and the connections students make in the program can help launch careers.

Reflecting the wide diversity of subject matter to be found in the present-day practice of mechanical engineering, the department offers a multitude of opportunities for study and research. Major areas of interest include: energy conversion, design and manufacturing, HVAC, solid mechanics, automatic controls, dynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, heat transfer, turbomachinery, combustion, robotics, and noise control. If you have particular interests or highly-specific objectives, we can generally satisfy your individual goals by elective courses and appropriate project work. Furthermore, it ought to be noted that the available pool of electives allows the student to specialize in one of the following concentration areas: Aerospace Engineering, Automation and Robotics, Automotive Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Power Plant Engineering, and Product Design and Manufacture.

The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to produce graduates with a broad-based foundation in fundamental engineering principles and liberal arts, together with the depth of disciplinary knowledge needed to succeed in a career in mechanical engineering or a related field, including a wide variety of advanced technological and management careers.

Graduates identify and solve problems in mechanical engineering and related fields using their broad-based knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts and state-of-the art tools and techniques.Ā

Physical Education Requirement for Engineering and Science Undergraduates (Class of 2012 and later)

Ā

Ā All engineering and science students must complete a minimum of four semester credits of Physical Education (P.E.) one of which is P.E. 100 Introduction to Wellness and Physical Education. A large number of activities are offered in lifetime, team, and wellness areas. Students must complete PE 100 in their first or second semester at Stevens; the other three courses must be completed by the end of the sixth semester. Students can enroll in more than the minimum required P.E. for graduation and are encouraged to do so.

Ā

Ā Participation in varsity sports can be used to satisfy up to three credits of the P.E. requirement, but not P.E. 100.

Ā

Ā Participation in supervised, competitive club sports can be used to satisfy up to two credits of the P.E. requirement, but not the P.E. 100 requirement, with approval from the P.E. Coordinator.

Mechanical engineering students can select their elective courses among two technical electives and three general electives in various ways. Some of them may wish to cluster those electives in ways that would help them gain expertise in an area of specialization within mechanical engineering. The following groupings are possible specialty (concentration) areas that students can select from within the mechanical engineering program:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has active research interests in the following areas: composites and structured materials, computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer, computer-aided design and manufacturing, integrated product and process design, control theory, design of thermal systems, industrial heat transfer, kinematics, knowledge-based engineering systems, machine design, metal forming, noise control and vibration, precision engineering, robotics and automation, system dynamics, nano/micro modeling, and micro/nanofabrication. e24fc04721
