David Wollner, owner of Willibrew in Mansfield, initially installed a solar system on his house in 2011 which consists of 23 panels on a single inverter. He was motivated to install solar panels for environmental and economic reasons. His current energy bill is less than $10 dollars monthly. The cost of residential installation was around $23,000, but was lowered to $14,000 after rebates.
David went on to install a solar hot water system for his restaurant brewery. The system paid for itself in less than 10 months because he pre-heated incoming water into the building to 150 degrees Fahrenheit thus saving natural gas to heat the water before use. David plans to install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the brewery in the near future.
