This site seeks to educate Northern Connecticut residents and small business owners about the environmental and economic benefits of solar energy. Through clear explanations of scientific concepts and tangible real-world implications, this resource provides steps for community members to switch to solar energy sources and advocate for renewables at the local level.
Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 1 states that the state of Connecticut will reduce green house gas (GHG) emission’s by 45% of 2001 levels by 2030 and 80% of 2001 levels by 2050. This ambitious action necessitates a rapid shift towards renewable energy alternatives.
In order to achieve these state sustainability goals, five Impact Teams were established to address the following areas: Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Materials Management, Sustainable Water Use, and Clean & Efficient Transportation. The Renewable Energy Impact team seeks to create strategies to increase solar use in government buildings as well as standardizing the deployment and use of renewable energy within state government.
