Key incentives include the state’s net metering program, which allows homeowners to earn credits for excess energy produced by their solar panels. These credits can offset future energy costs, making solar energy more cost-effective.
Duke Energy’s solar rebate program provides additional financial support, offering up to $600 per kilowatt (kW) of installed solar capacity, with a maximum rebate of $6,000. This significantly reduces the upfront cost of solar panel installation. Additionally, North Carolinians can benefit from the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which allows homeowners to deduct 30% of the installation costs from their federal taxes.
