My academic training began at Chungbuk National University as an undergraduate student. I studied Physics and Mathematics, which became the basis for all of my future study and research. In 2001, I moved to Seoul National University to study theoretical particle physics in the master’s program and then applied physics in the doctoral program. In the PH D course, under the guidance of Prof. Wonho Jhe, I developed the force spectroscopy method with a quartz tuning fork sensor and applied it to investigate nanoconfined fluids. I could be extensively trained in instrumentation, measurement, analysis and modeling, through which I could grow as an independent researcher. After a posdoc in Seoul National University, I moved to Harvard to study new physics for me, soft matter physics using microfluidic techniques. In 2013, I made a significant transition, from academia to industry, a transition inevitably made by a desire to follow the way given to me. I joined Samsung Electronics, where I found a new society, people and culture that I had never experienced before. I learned and experienced how the big company works, which made a difference that lasts a lifetime. Here in Chungbuk National University since 2017, I now think of my way to move forward with my students and colleagues.

Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let's not be afraid to receive each day's surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity.
