Two Postdoctoral Research Fellow Positions - updated on Jan 2, 2026
Position 1: Machine Learning for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Our research group invites applications for a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead a project on Machine Learning (ML) Accelerated Computational Fluid Dynamics. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of fluid mechanics and artificial intelligence in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Research Focus
The successful candidate will develop data-driven frameworks to accelerate CFD simulations. The primary goal is to integrate deep learning algorithms with traditional numerical methods to predict complex flow patterns with high accuracy and reduced computational cost.
Key research activities include:
Developing and training neural networks (e.g., Physics-Informed Neural Networks - PINNs, CNNs) to model fluid flow and transport phenomena.
Generating high-fidelity training datasets using simulations or experimental data.
Coupling ML models with open-source or commercial CFD solvers to accelerate convergence and prediction.
Validating models against experimental benchmarks and analyzing error propagation.
Specific Qualifications (Preferred)
Strong background in fluid mechanics, turbulence modeling, and numerical methods.
Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX).
Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and Linux-based systems.
Familiarity with surrogate modeling is an asset.
Position 2: Nanodroplet Reactions for Automated Ultra-Sensitive Sensing
Our research group is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to drive a cutting-edge project on Nanodroplet Reactions for Advanced Nanomaterials and Automated Sensing. This role focuses on leveraging microfluidic platforms to synthesize novel materials for next-generation detection systems.
Research Focus
The successful candidate will investigate nanodroplet-confined synthesis to create advanced nanomaterials with tailored optical or catalytic properties. The project aims to develop an automated platform using these materials for the ultra-sensitive detection of biological or chemical analytes.
Key research activities include:
Designing and fabricating fluidic devices for the generation and manipulation of nanodroplets.
Synthesizing and characterizing nanomaterials (e.g., artificial compound eyes, plasmonic nanoparticles, quantum dots) within droplet reactors.
Developing automated protocols for high-throughput sensing and data acquisition.
Characterizing material performance.
Specific Qualifications (Preferred)
Expertise in microfluidics, soft matter, or colloidal chemistry.
Hands-on experience with nanomaterial synthesis and surface functionalization.
Knowledge of optical sensing techniques and instrumentation.
Experience hardware automation is a plus.
General Requirements (Applicable to both positions)
Education: A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
Track Record: A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with experience.
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive collaborative mindset, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
