Throughout my program at Sheridan College, I have had the fortune of gaining practical experience through Field Placements. The College sends us to schools to learn from professionals in the area, about the students, and how our profession is managed in a school environment. This type of approach not only allows us to grow as students but also as people, since we learn how to do our job as an Educational Assistant in classrooms and also, we forge close relationships by working as part of a team.
Personally, I can say that Field Placements are enriching experiences that allow us to develop senses that make us more human, something that is very important when working with students with exceptionalities. Every time I have the opportunity to go to a school and join the team of educators to provide support to students, it makes me change my way of being, thinking and approaching students. The implementation of strategies that allow them to reach their highest potential, is a lesson for them and a huge reward for my own life.
Next I will show you some pictures of my experience in the Field Placements that I have done.
